A British woman suffered a leg injury in an accident near the Rockefeller Centre in New York
23 August 2013
The parents of a British tourist who was injured when a New York City taxi jumped a curb say they are grateful for the help of bystanders that included a TV personality.
Jason and Sonia Green said in a statement on Thursday they want to thank New Yorkers for their support following the accident.
Sian Green lost a leg when she was struck by the taxi on Tuesday.
Quick-thinking good Samaritans including a plumber, a nurse and television personality Dr Mehmet Oz rushed to her aid.
Plumber David Justino immediately applied a tourniquet made from a belt.
The family said they wanted especially to thank the men for their help.
