A police firearms officer shot himself in the foot in west London early today.
Firearms officers went to a house in Old Oak Common Lane in Acton as part of a “welfare check” on a resident but as one of the marksmen was leaving his gun was fired accidentally, causing an injury to his foot.
The officer was taken to a central London hospital for treatment.
His condition is not described as life threatening.
There were no other injuries.
