Explorer Tullow Oil says it has done "exceptionally well" in the first half. The African-focused company now expects production of 70,000 to 72,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day and capital spending of £480 million this year.
In the first half, output rose 1% to 70,550 barrels a day. Tullow says the disposal of $1 billion (£505.5 million) of non-core assets it announced in the first half will net around £400 million profit.
Oil production from its African fields averaged 41,580 barrels of oil equivalent a day, up 6% on the same period a year earlier, Tullow says.
